Buying furniture from China: what matters.

US rules

Upholstered seating: flammability rules (federal rules adopt California TB117-2013), and contract specs may ask for more.
Composite wood (MDF, particleboard, plywood): formaldehyde rules under TSCA Title VI, with labels and certification.
Wood products: Lacey Act declarations at import.

Duties

Wooden bedroom furniture from China is under an anti-dumping order. Hotel casegoods can fall inside it.
Upholstered wooden seating and kitchen cabinets and vanities carry Section 232 duties.
The duty depends on the material: wood, upholstered wood and metal chairs are treated differently. We work it out before we quote.
