What is 1688.com?
Alibaba Group's domestic Chinese wholesale marketplace, listing factories and traders in Chinese with RMB prices aimed at buyers inside China.
1688.com is Alibaba Group's business-to-business platform for the Chinese domestic market. Listings are in Chinese, prices are in renminbi and assume delivery within China, and sellers usually expect Chinese payment methods. Many of the same suppliers also sell on Alibaba.com at export prices.
Prices on 1688 are often lower than on export platforms, but they rarely include export packing, export documents, compliance with US rules or any quality guarantee. A listing price is also not a quote for your specification or volume.
Buyers outside China normally use an agent to search, negotiate, pay and collect. Treat a 1688 listing as a lead to verify, not as proof that the seller is a factory.
