What is NRTL (UL and ETL listing (NRTL))?

Safety certification of electrical products by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, such as UL Solutions or Intertek (ETL), as US codes expect.

OSHA's Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) program recognizes labs that test and certify products to US safety standards. UL Solutions (UL mark) and Intertek (ETL mark) are both NRTLs, and their listing marks are generally accepted on the same footing when they certify to the same standard, for example UL 1598 for light fixtures.

Electrical codes and local inspectors commonly require listed equipment in commercial buildings, and many buyers, insurers and retailers insist on it. A CE mark or a Chinese CCC certificate does not replace it, and unlisted equipment may need a costly field evaluation before an inspector will approve it.

A listing covers a specific product from a specific factory, so check the file number in the lab's online directory. Beato does not provide UL, ETL or other electrical certification; that stays with the client.
